Clark County Fire District 6 Commissioners recently announced the selection of a new Fire Chief, Kristan Maurer. Maurer started as an entry-level firefighter at the District 20 years ago, and has served in nearly every position possible in District 6.

A graduate of Battle Ground High School, Maurer will be one of only 50 female Fire Chiefs nationwide. She has a Bachelors’ Degree in Fire Service Administration, a Masters’ Degree in Public Administration, and completed the Executive Fire Officer Program through the National Fire Academy.

The fire service is a family affair for Maurer, as her husband is an Engineer for Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue.

Chief Maurer will work with current Fire Chief Jerry Green to make the leadership transition over the next several months. Green is set to retire at the end of the year after a long and distinguished fire service career.
