Well, summer sure took its sweet time this year, pretty much skipping spring, but it’s finally here. That means it’s time for fun! Barbecue’s, hiking, yard sales, camping trips, and La Center’s annual free summer concert series Saturdays in the Park.

This will be the fourth season of Saturdays in the Park and will include five free concerts held at the beautiful amphitheater at Sternwheeler Park in downtown La Center from 6:00 till 8:00pm on summer Saturday nights.

Saturdays in the Park was started by long time La Center resident Mona Bean in 2014. After a successful first season, they’ve kept it going. Every year the crowds have grown, and everyone has a great time. The concerts include classic rock and country tribute bands, and well known original acts coming through the area on tour.

The 2017 lineup includes:

June 24: Harvest Gold, a really fun Neil Young tribute band that may even throw out a tune by Dylan or the Dead. Come on out and feel the groove!

July 1: Calico the Band, invited by special request of former La Center Mayor Jim Irish, this is fantastic three-female fronted country-folk-rock band from Los Angeles.

July 8: Texas Tribute, a tribute to ZZ Top. This should be a great show. Bring your dancing shoes, ’cause these guys boogie! This will be their first appearance at Saturdays in the Park, so come on out and make them feel welcome!

July 15: Get Rhythm, a tribute to Johnny Cash. This knock-out rockabilly combo delivers dead-on vintage Johnny Cash. They wowed the crowd last year, so come on out and see what all the hullabaloo was about!

July 29: Abbey Roadster, this local Beatles tribute band is fun to watch and play mostly all Beatles! Who doesn’t love the Beatles? We know we’ll see you at this one.

Sternwheeler Park is a natural amphitheater with tiered seating, so bring your lawn chair or a blanket and a picnic lunch. Located at 100 E 4th St, La Center, WA 98629.
