The 2018 season marks seven years at the entrance to Legacy Hospital in Salmon Creek and sharing the value of contributing to the health of the community. The market now tops out at 28 vendors, mostly focusing on fresh foods grown, produced or processed in our own SW Washington region – 20 farms and farm businesses, all in Clark County, bring diverse fresh produce, goats milk and goats milk cheese, pasture-raised meat, honey, eggs, flowers, perennials, annuals and all kinds of plant starts.
The 2018 season begins for the market at Legacy Hospital with two Earth Day markets, Tuesdays, April 17 and 24, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine. You’ll find cool weather vegetables, however, look for lots of veggie and herb starts for your own backyard gardens.
Celebrating its fifth year in its partnership with Clark PUD, the Salmon Creek Farmers Market hosts six vendors in a mini-farmers market at the Clark PUD Home & Garden “Idea” Fair at the Clark County Fairgrounds. This event, on the last weekend of April, brings an average of 22,000 customers to the Fairgrounds for a full range of plants to buy, ideas for landscaping, tips on home maintenance and building, entertainment and traditional Fair food. Look for the market in the midway between the Plant Sales Building and the Exhibit Hall, Friday through Sunday, April 27 through 29.
The market season at Legacy Hospital officially starts on Tuesday, June 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and extends to Tuesday, October 2, 2018. A special Harvest/Halloween market takes place on Tuesday, October 30.
A list of participating vendors in Earth Day markets, at the “Idea” Fair and during the 2018 season at Legacy will be available on the website within two weeks of each start date and weekly throughout the market season.
As always, the market will offer SNAP/EBT benefits, Farmers Market Nutrition Program checks for WIC and Senior clients needing food assistance, Fresh Match bonus program and will continue into a second year of offering a Rewards Program for repeat customers (2 $5 tokens after 10 visits to the market).
