Patrick Mongrain from Thomas Jefferson Middle School and Sheree Fitzpatrick from Columbia River High School are in the running for a Thank America’s Teachers $2500 grant sponsored by Farmers Insurance. They need YOU to vote, so they can win!
Mongrain’s proposal is to fund the middle school’s PBIS program. The PBIS program, also known as the Positive Behavior Intervention and Support program has shown dramatic improvement in the school culture as a whole and has helped reduce expulsion and suspensions by 50%!
Fitzpatrick’s proposal is to help fund the newly-formed high school Theatre Club. Not only would this grant help with costumes and props, but the group hopes to have the funds to travel to senior centers and other local venues to perform.
These teachers are up against teachers from all over the country and the only way they can win is if you vote! It only takes a minute of your time. Head to thankamericasteachers.com, click on the red VOTE NOW box, search by Vancouver, WA, and both teachers will pop up. You can vote once per day, per proposal, per email. Their full proposals are on the site. The voting period is through the end of March. The winner is announced in April.
Anyone with an email can vote… so have the kids vote too! Let’s help these teachers win!
